Castree also previously held C-suite positions at MediaVest and Leo Burnett.

Prior to Amazon, “Castree oversaw paid media and then served as a senior advisor at Hawkfish, the ad agency founded by Mike Bloomberg to support the billionaire’s 2020 campaign for president,” according to Adweek

“The appointment comes as DoorDash continues to expand its platform beyond restaurant delivery into broader local commerce services, with the company positioning marketing as a key driver of its next phase of growth,” according to Storyboard18.

Amoo-Gottfried said he first met Castree “16 years ago on a wild African adventure.” He wrote on LinkedIn that upon their reconnection last year, “it was immediately evident that he’s the right leader for this team and for the next phase of marketing at DoorDash. He brings exactly what this moment calls for: customer empathy, an appetite for building, superb operational chops, deep business acumen and the ability to elevate our game across every part of the marketing ecosystem.”

Amoo-Gottfried became the delivery platform’s first CMO in 2021 after joining the company in 2019 as vice president of marketing, according to Campaign, noting that the company recently posted strong first quarter results, with a 33% year-over-year revenue increase to $4 billion and a 27% year-over-year increase of total orders to 933 million.
