Purina has officially opened applications for its Purina Puppy Chow and Purina Kitten Chow chief snuggle officers.
“The pet food brand is looking for one kitten and one puppy to serve as honorary brand ambassadors and help spread the word about healthy eating,” according to
USA Today. “For all their hard work, each new hire will receive a $25,000 ‘salary,’ while a shelter in their hometown will be rewarded a $10,000 donation.”
Following in the footsteps of Pudim, a CavaPoo puppy from Overland, Kansas, and Ika, an American shorthair kitten from Queens, New York, the 2026 Chief Snuggle Officers will lead the charge
in promoting good nutrition, growth, and lots of play — no prior executive experience necessary.

“Their primary responsibility: setting the standard for top-tier
snuggles and cuteness and reminding everyone just how much joy pets bring,” according to Purina. “The ideal candidates will showcase a strong
track record in comfort delivery, cross-functional cuddle collaboration, and consistent performance in high-stress situations (i.e., Mondays).”
Applications for the roles are open through July 17, with winners scheduled to be announced in early October. Three puppies and three kittens will
be selected as finalists. Beginning Aug. 17, the public will vote for their favorite puppy and kitten.
“The contest is part of Chow and Chow’s mission to provide puppies
and kittens with the best possible start,” according to KDAF. "The selected Chief Snuggle
Officers will represent the brands and promote pet well-being nationwide."
