A viral hit singing the praises of a tropical isle has now
become an official theme song for the island’s destination marketing organization.
Discover Puerto Rico has released an official music video and a YouTube sing-along for the recent viral
hit “The Puerto Rico Song.”
Informally released online in April, “The Puerto Rico Song” recorded by Bill Stiteler, aka Saxboy Billy, quickly became a viral sensation
with over 3.3 million views and hundreds of millions of plays across platforms. Multiple celebrities have posted their own lip sync versions, including Charlie Puth, Sarah Hyland and Jennifer Love
Hewitt.
Inspired by the song’s immense popularity, the tourism organization reached out to Stiteler to “bring the song to life” with a new music video, seen here.

“From the moment we saw the incredible response to the Puerto Rico song online, we knew it represented something much bigger
than a viral trend,” said Storm Tussey, CMO of Discover Puerto Rico, in a release. "The song captured the joy, pride, and energy that people feel when they experience Puerto Rico. By bringing
[Stiteler] to the Island, we wanted to celebrate that authenticity while showcasing that Puerto Rico is so much more than a single destination."
The video was filmed at some of Puerto
Rico’s most well-known locations, such as San Juan and Caguas, while also exploring the island’s distinct regions, towns and local color. The video also highlights several local Puerto
Rican brands, including swimwear maker Arrecife and beverage brand Malta, which also serves as the official beverage partner of the music video.
On YouTube, the tourism board also released a
singalong version of the song, seen here, which features an illustrated frog bouncing along with the lyrics.
Both the official
music video and singalong version are running across Discover Puerto Rico's digital platforms and social channels.
