Google’s AI Overviews and Perplexity AI are subject to Germany’s media laws, the country’s media regulator said, Reuters reports. This includes AI-generated new summaries and
chatbot responses. These are seen as content created by the companies themselves, not by third parties. Meanwhile, a court in Munich said Google could be liable for false statements generated by AI
overviews.
