Stagwell has added business executive Beth J. Kaplan as an independent member to its board of directors, the company reported in an SEC filing.   

The appointment was effective July 31 and Kaplan's committee appointments will be made at a later date, according to the filing. 

Kaplan is former president and COO of online designer clothing platform Rent The Runway, where she remains a board director.  

Previously she was president and chief merchandising and marketing officer at GNC, where she helped take the company public. Earlier she held senior roles at Procter & Gamble.  

She also serves on the boards of Crocs Inc., Brilliant Earth Group, The Vitamin Shoppe and Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurants.
