Allen & Gerritsen's "Voice Of Logan" Campaign Goes Viral

Last week Boston ad agency Allen & Gerritsen (A&G) launched the “Voice of Logan” campaign, a contest to become the official overhead announcement voice of Boston Logan International Airport.

Culturally speaking, the Boston accent punches way above its weight, and the PR portion of the campaign has taken advantage of that, gathering 7 million earned media impressions and counting.

National coverage included Today on NBC and Jimmy Kimmel Live!. Kimmel guest and Boston-area hometowner Ben Affleck did two mock auditions during his appearance on the show earlier this week. The first one Kimmel judged was “terrible.”

For the second one, Affleck donned a Red Sox cap borrowed from an audience member and went full over-the-top profanity-laced townie in his second go at it. Kimmel joked he couldn’t imagine Affleck not getting the role. “I might fly to Boston to just hear that announcement,” he quipped.

Casting calls were created utilizing paid influencers and local media (radio and broadcast), along with paid social. Boston-area content creators also chimed in with their own twists and parodies on the contest.

The work was commissioned by the Massachusetts Port Authority and A&G worked in partnership with Excalibur Promotions on the experiential buildout for auditions at the airport and Marden Kane on sweepstakes design and administration.

Live auditions were staged last week and online auditions will continue through Oct. 4. So you still have time. Just don’t refer to Boston as “Beantown,” or say "pahk the cah in Hahvahd Yahd,” or you’ll have Affleck to answer to.
