Julianne Hough Dances Up A Storm For Blue Diamond Almondmilk

An Emmy-awarding-winning dancer and TV personality has been tapped by Blue Diamond Almond Growers as the face of its latest campaign for almond milk.

Julianne Hough, who rose to fame in 2007 on “Dancing With The Stars,” becoming the youngest pro dancer to win the competition twice, stars in two new ads for the almond marketer and processor. Hough, who has over five millions Instagram followers, is currently hosting season 35 of “DWTS.”

In one spot for the brand’s Chocolate Protein Almondmilk, seen here, Hough appears in her kitchen, finishing a glass of almond milk as her driver waits for her. She begins to dance enthusiastically to the song  “Flashdance... What a Feeling,” with some of the same steps from the film  The driver joins her after sipping his own almond milk, ending the dance by dramatically leaning back in a chair (reminiscent of what’s probably the most famous movie scene, of Jennifer Beals sitting in a chair with water dripping on her). Hough explains to the impressed driver, “Yep. Eight grams of plant protein, 45% less sugar and still delicious.”

“Julianne brought such a joyful, hands–on energy to every part of this partnership,” said Maya Erwin, vice president marketing and innovation, Blue Diamond Growers, in a release. “She understood exactly how to make the spots feel playful, nostalgic and completely her own.”

In a second spot, seen here, for the Unsweetened Simple Almondmilk, Hough slides into frame wearing white socks and an oversized men’s shirt in her tiled kitchen. After explaining to her assistant that the almond milk only contains three ingredients (water, almonds and sea salt) and taking a sip, she proceeds to break into dance, this time to “Old Time Rock and Roll” by Bob Seger and The Silver Bullet Band, the song made famous by the socks-and-oversized-men’s shirt-wearing Tom Cruise in the film “Risky Business.”

According to the brand, Hough was “heavily involved in shaping the creative… from the initial concept through the final spots… with “choreography she created.”

The ads will run across the Blue Diamond’s socials in addition to paid media.
