ESPN Extends Home Depot Deal, Launches ESPNU Site

ESPN has reached a three-year extension of its deal with Home Depot for the retailer to continue sponsoring its "ESPN College GameDay" preview show. The network also launched a Web site for its ESPNU outlet, and will capitalize on the fantasy-football boom with a show on ESPN2 this fall dedicated to the phenomenon.

Under the deal with Home Depot, the retailer remains as presenting sponsor of the Saturday morning show that previews the day's college football action, known as "ESPN College GameDay Built by The Home Depot." HD receives logo placement on-set and sponsored feature segments as part of the agreement.

Home Depot uses the sponsorship to reach consumers as they begin to tackle home improvement tasks for the weekend.

ESPNU.com, which went live yesterday, is the site affiliated with the 24-hour college sports linear network. The site promises to stream college events live, including coverage of some NCAA championships, as well as many game highlights.

"The Fantasy Show," a weekly offering, will debut Thursday on ESPN2 at 5:30 p.m. EST. After that, the half-hour show will move to its regular 6:30 p.m. slot for 18 weeks.
