'Heroes' Delivers Monday To NBC, CBS Distant Second

NBC wants to solidify a hold on Monday night--now that its boffo rookie show "Heroes" raises the bar one more degree.

With the best rating for a new TV show in over two years, "Heroes" has grown to a 6.5 rating/15 share. It was the best-rated show of the evening among 18-49 viewers. But in total viewers, it just beat out a rerun of "CSI:Miami": 14.9 million viewers versus 14.5 million viewers.

NBC's "Deal or No Deal" helped the network earlier in the evening with a 4.8 rating/13 share, which won the 8 p.m. time period. At 10 p.m., NBC decided to give its highly scrutinized "Studio 60 from the Sunset Strip" a break from the glare of critics' eyes, replacing it with "Friday Night Lights," which did a smidge better than "Studio 60" the week before. For the night, NBC grabbed a 5.0/13.

As for CBS, even in total rerun mode for the evening, it still finished second to NBC. CBS grabbed a 3.6/9.

ABC and Fox tied for third, each with a 2.8/7. Fox, coming out of a short World Series, doesn't have traction yet. "Prison Break" only posted a 3.6/9, while Fox's 9 p.m. show "Justice" couldn't keep pace at a 2.1/5. ABC stayed much the same as the Monday night of a week ago: A "Wife Swap" rerun came in at a 2.5/7; "The Bachelor: Rome" was next, at 3.1/7; and "What About Brian" at 10 p.m. earned a 2.8/7.

Univision was at the same level as The CW--a 1.4/4. At 8 p.m., "La Fea Mas Bella" hit a 1.8--its best-rated show of the night. Then "Mundo de Fieras" came in at a 1.3 at 9 p.m. At 10 p.m., "Cristina" earned a 0.9.
