Steve Wilhite resigned Monday from his post as Hyundai Motor America CEO. The Fountain Valley, Calif.-based automaker says a replacement for Wilhite has not yet been named.
Rumors
have swirled for weeks that Wilhite is among two executives that Ford Motor Co. has been considering for its global CMO post, according to the blog written by David Kiley, senior correspondent in
BusinessWeek's Detroit bureau.
Ford's top sales and marketing chief Francisco Codina retired last week. Prior to joining Hyundai, Wilhite was global CMO at Nissan, based in Tokyo. He began
his career at Ford in the 1970s.
