Much like Jay Leno and Conan O'Brien, Kimmel expressed regret in a statement that production would resume as the Writers' Guild strike persists. Like his comic rivals, he said he wants to allow other members of his staff to get back to work.
"Though it makes me sick to do so without my writers, there are more than a hundred people whose financial well-being depends on our show," he said. "It is time to go back to work. I support my colleagues and friends in the WGA completely and hope this ends both fairly and soon."
"Kimmel" follows "Nightline" on ABC at 12:05 a.m.
