Through the partnership, "Digg buttons" will appear on CBSNews.com articles and videos related to the election for audiences to submit and rate Digg content. Digg's campaign-related headlines and stories, meanwhile, will be featured on CBSNews.com.
Michael Sims, CBSNews.com's vice president of editorial content, said in a statement that the Digg deal was part of its strategic plan to open the site to diverse news and analysis while sharing its content more widely.
The partnership follows other election-season alliances between network news operations and social networking sites including CNN/YouTube and ABC/Facebook. CBS has recently been rumored to be among the companies eyeing Digg for possible acquisition.
