Comcast's Fancast Wants A Piece Of Internet Video Business

LAS VEGAS -- Making its move to stay in the Internet streaming video game, Comcast Interactive Media is launching its first online destination entertainment site, called Fancast.com.

Users can see full-length TV episodes and get local movie theater information and movie clips, as well as organize their own local Comcast DVR and Video on Demand content from across a variety of multiple media platforms.

With Fancast's "Watch It" tool, users can watch over 3,000 hours of streaming free video from networks such as CBS, NBC, Fox, MTV Networks, and BET, as well as movie trailers and other video content.

In addition, Fancast can offer up local TV channel lineups. Fancast has a "Find It" tool where users can search over 50,000 TV shows, 80,000 movies and 11 million Web pages for entertainment information.

Fancast also has a "Manage It" tool that enables users to control their DVR from the road. Consumers can also organize upcoming programming and develop personalized playlists.

Comcast says that in 2009, users will be able to add content to a folder in their video-on-demand menu, directly from their computers.
