USA Today Expands TV, Online Properties

Looking to extend its USA Today brand, the television arm of the national newspaper has announced a number of traditional TV and online programs.

For the cable channel Versus, USA Today Live will launch a six-part series "City Limits Fishing," filming from locations close to--or in metropolitan areas such as--New York, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., Chicago, Tampa and Sacramento. It starts Feb. 15.

On Feb. 19, USA will debut an eight-part weekly series "10 Great Reasons," which pays tribute to musical guilty pleasures, with stories and rumors. For HD channel, Mojo HD, USA will focus on athletes' training for the Olympics in a 10-part series "Gotta Get Gold." "Gold" will start July 28, just weeks before the Beijing Olympics.

USA Today Live will also debut two new celebrity-focused online video projects for USAToday.com: "CelebWatch" which features celebrity interviews, and "CelebStyle," focusing on celebrity fashion and how people can obtain it.

USA Today Live has produced other news, sports and fitness programs for networks Versus and HDNet, as well as for USAToday.com. It began in 2000 to feed video versions of USA Today content to 22 Gannett Broadcasting television stations.
