Hovr Partners with India's Times Internet for Ad-Supported Mobile Games Deal

Hovr has partnered with Times Internet Limited (TIL) to launch GameZone, an ad-supported mobile gaming portal.

TIL is a division of The Times Group, a multi-platform media and entertainment company based in India, and will use Hovr's "Powered by Hovr" white label mobile platform to offer games, entertainment content and social networking features under the GameZone brand.

Both companies will work together to continue to recruit advertisers for the free service, which launched in beta in December 2007. According to Dinesh Wadhawan, CEO and managing director of TIL, the company had been looking for a tech partner with a reliable platform, a full catalogue of games, and a deep understanding of the rapidly growing Indian mobile market to develop GameZone--pegging the service as a boon for both gamers and advertisers.

"Based on the sheer number of mobile subscribers and consumer interest in ad-supported mobile content, we believe that mobile marketing is poised to overtake online marketing in India within the next few years," Wadhawan said.

New York-based Hovr reports that India's mobile subscriber base clocks in at more than 235 million users, growing by an average of 5 million new subscribers each month. "Partnering with TIL furthers Hovr's goal of leveraging our white-label ad-supported mobile gaming solution to drive the mass market adoption of mobile gaming in one of the largest and fastest-growing mobile markets in the world," said Deepak Gupta, vice president of business development at Hovr.
