The Distilled Spirits Council called the Nutmeg State's laws banning Sunday sales outdated and inefficient, and noted that Colorado just lifted its Sunday alcohol sales ban.
"Like
Colorado, Connecticut consumers deserve increased convenience, more choices and equal access to their beer, wine and spirits products," said Distilled Spirits Council President Peter Cressy.
"Seventy-five years after the repeal of Prohibition, Connecticut continues to cling to Prohibition-era Blue Laws that inconvenience consumers and businesses alike."
Cressy noted that Colorado is
the 13th state since 2002 to strike down its Sunday sales ban, bringing the total number of states that permit Sunday sales of spirits to 35. Only 15 states--including Connecticut--maintain Blue
Laws.
