Lifetime's New Slate: 'Trump" and 'Dead Diva'

Army WivesLifetime is turning to a prominent alpha male for a new drama. The network is developing a series executive-produced by Donald Trump, about life inside a pricey New York apartment building. It's called "Trump Tower."

"It is a microcosm of the world's most chic, sophisticated and powerful players, and a rare insider's look at how they live, love and interact with the men and women who work in this plush and well-appointed building," Lifetime said. The show is billed as "a juicy nighttime soap" from Trump Productions.

The show is one of seven new dramas the female-targeted network is developing as it looks to replicate the success of last summer's "Army Wives," which returns in June. Also among the crop is "The Amazing Mrs. Pritchard," about a supermarket manager who is thrust into the governor's mansion, and "Drop Dead Diva," which is about reincarnation, focusing on a beautiful twenty-something actress who dies and returns as an older and "unpolished attorney."

Looking for a beachhead in original comedy, the network has three shows in the pipeline, including "Burnt Toast," which is adapted from "Desperate Housewives" star Teri Hatcher's eponymous book about a forty-something mom and her daughter.

Lifetime will also produce 40 of its signature original movies over the next year. (At sister Lifetime Movie Network, the figure will increase from 12 originals to 18.)

At Lifetime, one is biopic "Coco Chanel," where Shirley MacLaine plays the fashion designer. Another is "Flirting with Forty," starring Heather Locklear and based on the eponymous novel about a divorced woman trying to "put her life together" as she nears 40.

On the reality front, Bravo's "Project Runway" is expected to come to Lifetime in November, and "How to Look Good Naked" with former Bravo star Carson Kressley returns this summer. In development are a dating game with 100 men trying to win the heart of one woman, and "Cook Yourself Thin," where four chefs teach a different woman how to cook healthy and tasty food each week.
