Absolutely Wrong, Relatively Correct

That's how Jonathan Miller, Founding Partner, Velocity Interactive Group, Former Chairman and CEO, AOL, summed up the history of the network television business during this morning's opening keynote at the OMMA Video conference in New York. And, in an ironic way, it may be the blueprint for online video too.

Recalling a seminal meeting with a "head of research and NBC" who, in explaining the problems with the TV industry's Nielsen ratings system, described as one that is "absolutely wrong, but relatively correct." While that might seem like a paradox, Miller said it's actually a necessary evil for building a standardized business model that people can at least agree on -- for all its warts.
