An audience member wanted to know how people find out what kind of video content is on the Web if they don't have a specific destination in mind. Media Contacts' TS Kelly quickly responded that “there is no one solution out there for an individual.†Online video is disseminated in any number of ways, which tend to differ depending on what playbook you read: the Over or Under 30 Playbook.
I personally read the Under 30 playbook, and most of the video I consume comes from my email and Facebook contacts, as well as videos hosted on my favorite blogs and Web sites. It may sound small, but this network is robust enough that I usually either come across or have sent to me many of YouTube's most popular videos more than once. As Kelly said, video discovery is a mixture of search, a personalized network and a network of trusted sources.
But Next New Networks Tim Shey pointed out that brands haven't gone away, either. The Under 30 generation proactively searches for its favorite brands, too. Case in point: every time Miley Cyrus posts a new video to YouTube, YouTube can easily expect something like 2 million views.
