Correction: Nielsen Endows $7.5 Million To Research Council

  • August 25, 2008
A story ("Nielsen-Backed Group Bids For Set-Top Based TV Ratings") in the Aug. 18th edition of MediaDailyNews incorrectly reported that the Council for Research Excellence has received $12 million in funding from Nielsen Media Research to conduct primary media research. Today, the council has been endowed with $7.5 million in funding, via three annual research grants of $2.5 million, from Nielsen. The story was about the council issuing a request for proposals for a study investigating methods and metrics of audience research derived from TV set top boxes. The proposal is not intended to develop any new methods for conducting audience research utilizing digital set-top boxes, but is designed to explore how various vendors currently utilize the data to capture and report tuning to learn about the viability of using digital set-top boxes to measure video tuning behavior. The proposal can be found on the council's Web site at http://www.researchexcellence.com/.
