CNBC, LinkedIn Partner For Polls

CNBC screenshotCNBC moved ahead in earnest with its new partnership with LinkedIn on Friday with the release of a co-branded poll about people's feelings on job security. The CNBC LinkedIn poll--a sort of new-media version of the venerable CBS News/New York Times trailblazer--came as the government released troubling unemployment figures.

It was conducted on the professional networking site and some 28,000 LinkedIn members participated in the poll, which was conducted before the figures came out. (Almost half indicated concerns about their security.)

The site has some 27 million members worldwide.

The co-branded poll came two days after the partners announced their multi-tiered partnership. Aspects include distributing CNBC content to LinkedIn members, a LinkedIn connection with CNBC.com and the co-branded on-air properties, such as the poll.

The CNBC content available to LinkedIn members includes videos and financial data, while LinkedIn functionality will be applied on CNBC.com.

The partnership is global, with CNBC in 400 million homes worldwide. The job security poll last week included respondents from outside the U.S. (That group indicated less concern about their futures.)

LinkedIn is backed by venture-capital groups, such as Sequoia and Bain Capital.
