Major League Baseball's online presence, MLB.com, chronicled the final game in the 85-year history of Yankee Stadium on Sunday. The coverage was highlighted with 18 consecutive hours of classic
Yankee Stadium games and footage leading into the pre-game ceremonies, MLB.com's exclusive "The Manager's View with Joe Girardi" and live look-ins of the game.
Starting at
midnight on Sunday, MLB.com began streaming games from its archives played at Yankee Stadium, including games featuring franchise greats such as Mickey Mantle, Mariano Rivera, Reggie Jackson and
Derek Jeter and dating back to 1952.
MLB.com will let fans download via iTunes the full-game video archive of the Yankee Stadium finale, as well as all of the games aired throughout the day. The
game will also be available through MLB.com's Condensed Games--a 20-minute, on-demand highlight product featuring every out, hit and run.
There will also be short-form video montages of current
and former players reminiscing, a compilation of print stories chronicling the ballpark's history, and photo galleries.--Karl Greenberg
