AP To Offer Live Video Election Coverage

  • October 16, 2008
For the first time, The Associated Press will provide live, continuous video coverage of election night results through its Online Video Network that includes the Web sites of 2,000 news partners.

Starting at 7 p.m. on Nov. 4, the AP will kick off "Big Issue: Election Results," co-hosted by Jessica Weinstein and the AP's Sagar Meghani, with Washington Bureau Chief Ron Fournier and other AP reporters and editors discussing the returns and providing updates.

The program will also feature 10 currently undecided voters from around the country who will explain their presidential choices. The 10 are being profiled on the AP's video network in the weeks leading up to Election Day and sharing their views on major issues such as the economy, the Iraq war and energy.

In a more grassroots-oriented effort, YouTube and PBS Wednesday announced a joint project to upload videos to YouTube submitted by voters on Election Day capturing their experiences at polling places nationwide.--Mark Walsh
