Bloomie's Private Room

I once had lunch with Michael Bloomberg - sort of. It was in the sprawling Bloomberg news bullpen on Park Avenue, long before he became Hizoner, when he was still just a simple media titan. The lunch consisted of all the coffee, soda, bananas and bagels I could quaff in the open cafeteria that is the buffer zone between Bloomberg's reception desk and the newsroom, a cacophony of print, online, radio and TV journalists - and a few sales, marketing and business-side people - who elbow each other in the open space, and vie for a couple of communal closed-door cubicles to take private meetings in. No one has an office at Bloomberg. At least that's what I was told before MB ushered me into a private room that was clearly for his meetings only.
