• Arnold Worldwide Among Those Honored At Ad Club's Rosoff Diversity Awards
    Arnold Worldwide was one of several Boston-area businesses honored Tuesday night at the Ad Club's annual Rosoff Awards for its work with diversity and inclusion issues. Arnold won the prestigious competition's Marketing to a Diverse Audience Award. The agency was up for the award against Global View Communications for its work with Eastern Bank and Mullen for its work with Mass Mutual.

    WGBH, PBS's largest content producer, has named a major player in the tech VC world as chairman of its board of trustees. The public television juggernaut said that Rick Burnes will assume the role of chairman, succeeding Cablevision founder and fellow venture capitalist Amos Hostetter, who take on the title of chairman emeritus. Burnes joined WGBH's board in 2010 and was named vice chairman in 2013.   • MITX, HubSpot To Co-Host Mega-Marketing Conference
    Digital media trade organization MITX and inbound marketing specialist HubSpot are joining forces to create a monster marketing event this fall in Boston. The two groups said they plan to essentially merge their two conferences-- MITX's Future M and HubSpot's INBOUND -- into one, big marketing spectacular that will take over the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center from September 15 to 18.
  • Boston Global Forum Announces New Media Industry Awards
    There's a new media awards competition in town, but this one has unique 21st Century twist. The Boston Global Forum, a non-profit focused on bringing together "thought" leaders from around the world to discuss how to tackle society's most pressing problems, is seeking nominations for its first annual Global Media Awards. The awards are intended to honor achievements in the media industry "that have made a significant contribution to society." Awards will be given out in three categories: Best Connectivity Platform, Best Content Production and Best Cyber Security Product.

    John Hancock has won two marketing industry awards for its rebranding campaign "John Hancock Funds has a new name." The Boston insurance giant won "Best Mutual Fund Online Ad" and "Best Mutual Fund Email Message" for the campaign at the recent Internet Advertising Competition, or IAC, Awards, which are sponsored by the Web Marketing Association.

The Boston Business Journal has released its annual "Best Places to Work" list and several familiar names in the ad tech and marketing world on are it. NetProspex and Fiksu both made the list for the third year in a row, with mobile app marketer Fiksu having taking the No. 1 spot last year in the mid-sized company category. Marketing analytics firm InsightSquared made the cut for the second consecutive year.
  • Boston Business Journal Publisher Resigns
    More turbulence in the Boston news market. The publisher of the Boston Business Journal, Christopher McIntosh, has resigned, effective immediately, the BBJ announced on its website Tuesday. McIntosh had served as publisher since 2010. No reason was given for the resignation. A search for a new publisher is already underway, the paper added.
  • MITX To Host 'MITX Up' Marketing Mentorship Event On May 6
    Dig start-ups? MITX will be hosting one of its "MIXT Up" marketing mentorship events in Quincy on Tuesday, May 6. The events, which MITX calls "marketing hackathons," are aimed at linking up marketing vets with area entrepreneurs eager to tell their stories and hit the marketplace. MITX selects the start-ups with the assistance of regional accelerator programs. Teams of marketers are matched with the start-ups, who then brainstorm for two hours about strategic marketing, communications and business development.

    The Ad Club has announced finalists for its 2014 Rosoff Awards honoring corporations and individuals for their commitment to diversity and inclusion issues in the Greater Boston area. Finalists for the Marketing to a Diverse Audience Award include Arnold Worldwide for their work with CDC, Global View Communications for Eastern Bank, and Mullen for MassMutual. For the Non-Profit Initiative Award, which recognizes the work of organizations that strive to "bridge the gap" between corporations and communities, the finalists are Citi Performing Arts Center, Junior Achievement of Northern New England, and Year Up.
