John Hancock Wins IAC Award For Re-Branding Campaign

John Hancock has won two marketing industry awards for its rebranding campaign "John Hancock Funds has a new name."

The Boston insurance giant won "Best Mutual Fund Online Ad" and "Best Mutual Fund Email Message" for the campaign at the recent Internet Advertising Competition, or IAC, Awards, which are sponsored by the Web Marketing Association.

Last September, Hancock changed the name of its wealth-management unit from John Hancock Funds to John Hancock Investments to emphasize the strength and depth of its asset-management services. The name change was also intended to signify that it offered an array of investment options in addition to mutual funds.

One of the oldest insurance companies in the U.S., Hancock was bought by Canada's Manulife Financial in 2004. In addition to insurance, the company now offers a wide range financial products including 401 (k) plans, college savings plans, mutual funds and annuities.
