• TB Bank Launches Agency Review
    TB Bank has launched an agency review that will assess both its creative and media assignments. "We evaluate our agency relationships routinely and are currently in the process of conducting a closed review," said a TD Bank spokesman.
  • Rapp Slapped With Wrongful Termination Suit
    Former Rapp U.S. president Greg Andersen has sued the agency alleging wrongful termination, retaliation and discrimination in a suit echoing the case that recently led to the resignation of J. Walter Thompson global chairman and CEO Gustavo Martinez. The lawsuit filed Monday in Los Angeles against RAPP Worldwide and RAPP California by the law firm of Rushovich Mehtani LLP claims that CEO Alexei Orlov fired Andersen for reporting on the chief executive's allegedly "destructive" behavior to global head of human resources Carolyn Doud and one of parent company Omnicom's in-house attorneys.
  • Coke "Hilltop" Ad Creator Bill Backer Dies
    Bill Backer, credited with creating the Coke “Hilltop” ad back in the early 1970’s (which garnered a new round of publicity a couple of years ago for its role in the finale of the hit AMC series “Mad Men”) died last week at the age of 89. Backer created the Coke ad while he was at McCann. Later in the decade he went on to create Backer & Spielvogel with Carl Spielvogel. He retired from the agency in 1993 but remained active, devoting a lot of time to land conservationist activities. 
  • Havas CEO Bollore Nominated to Vivendi Board
    Havas CEO Yannick Bollore has been nominated to the board of Directors of  Paris-based media and entertainment company Vivendi. The move is seen as an effort by Bollore Group, run by Yannick Bollore’s father Vincent to further tighten its control of Vivendi, of which it now owns more than 14%. Bollore Group is also the majority owner of  Havas.
