The National Safety Council has launched an outdoor advertising effort in 67 U.S. markets encouraging drivers to hang up their cell phones. The "Death by Cell Phone" campaign shows Linda, a
61-year-old from Oklahoma and Joe, a 12-year-old from Michigan, who were both killed in car crashes caused by drivers using cell phones. (The campaign's title comes from a phrased coined by Linda's
daughter, Jennifer.)
The board features photos of Linda and Joe, directing people to visit a Web site where people can watch a video telling their stories. The campaign is sponsored by
Nationwide Insurance and Lamar Advertising.--Aaron Baar
