Nintendo To Park Beach In NYC's Times Square

  • July 14, 2009
Nintendo will turn a section of Times Square into a beach resort next week to promote its Wii sports resort video game.

On July 23, people visiting Military Island in Manhattan will encounter a sandy beach, swimming pool and tropical lounge, as well as a chance to play the beach resort-themed game. Based on the game's "Wuhu Island" locale, the site will also offer giveaways and free nonalcoholic resort drinks.

Wii Sports Resort is a sequel of sorts to the Wii Sports games that came packaged with the Wii systems. The game is the first to feature the control enhancements of the Wii MotionPlus controller add on that provides more precision to the Wii's motion-sensitive controls.--Aaron Baar
