FBN, Tennis Channel 'Open' Communication

In a cross-promotion gambit between two lower-profile cable channels, the Fox Business Network and the Tennis Channel will offer cut-ins on each other's airwaves over the next two weeks.

While the Tennis Channel carries some U.S. Open matches for the first time, one of the network's anchors on "Money For Breakfast," an FBN morning show, will offer a quick recap of the previous day's tournament action. FBN then will provide a wrap-up of stock-market performance and business news during the tennis network's U.S. Open broadcast each afternoon.

The content exchange will occur on weekdays. FBN is in some 50 million homes, with the Tennis Channel in about half that, although reach is expected to be larger during the Open.

Robyn Miller, senior vice president for marketing at the Tennis Channel, said the relationship is "mutually beneficial to both of our viewer bases." Each network has the potential to attract an upscale audience with some crossover interest.

The Tennis Channel is joining ESPN and CBS in offering U.S. Open coverage, offering 72 hours with live action.

The Tennis Channel's Kevin Frazier will anchor the network's morning FBN report at 8:20 a.m. with the "Fox Business Network Update" appearing on the tennis network at 6 p.m.
