Tommy Bahama has signed a multi-year agreement with Major League Baseball Properties to create a co-branded collection of custom-designed premium apparel.

The series of limited-edition Tommy Bahama signature-style shirts kicks off with a special event shirt for the 2009 World Series. The shirt will be a limited-production "Collector's Edition," with each shirt numbered and authenticated. They will be available at www.tommybahama.com, and also in select Tommy Bahama retail locations.

The shirt will be available to purchase on Oct. 19, but the stores and online customer center are currently taking pre-orders, according to a Tommy Bahama spokesperson. Customers can sign up to be notified when the shirts are available at: http://www.tommybahama.com/TBG/EmailSignup/World_Series.jsp.

Marketing for the shirts includes e-blasts to customers, says the spokesperson. Tommy Bahama retail locations have been promoting within the stores by talking about it with guests and taking pre-orders. The shirt will also be advertised in the World Series program, the spokesperson says.

The next "Collector's Edition" shirt will be available for opening day of the 2010 baseball season. For the 2010 season, there will be a series of individual team shirts for six to eight teams, according to the spokesperson. "We'll announce those teams closer to the 2010 opening day," the spokesperson said. "Each shirt will be limited edition and come with a collector's certificate, signifying the uniqueness of each shirt."

This latest venture joins an established array of Tommy Bahama lifestyle products, which include apparel, accessories, home furnishings, restaurants and bars, retail stores, and even Tommy Bahama Rum.

Tommy Bahama is owned by the Tommy Bahama Group, a wholly owned subsidiary of Oxford Industries, Inc. Established in August 1992, the collection includes men's and women's sportswear, denim, swimwear, accessories and a complete home furnishings collection. It is available at retailers including Nordstrom, as well as resort locations around the world. There are more than 80 Tommy Bahama retail locations across the country.
