U.S. Rep. Anna Eshoo (D-Calif.) wants the Federal Communications Commission to regulate loud commercials.
Her "Commercial Advertisement Loudness Mitigation (CALM) Act" has just cleared a
subcommittee and now moves to the full House Energy and Commerce committee for a vote, reports Ars Technica.
The bill wants the FCC to ensure ads that accompany programming aren't
presented at "modulation levels substantially higher than the program material."
