Ogilvy Cuts 90 Staffers

  • December 2, 2009
WPP Group's Ogilvy & Mather let go 90 staffers, or 4% of its North American workforce, per Adweek. A loss of business from various clients including Yahoo, Kraft and Barclays, as well as the recession, were blamed for the layoffs. Also, in August, Mattel moved about $30 million in ad duties to WPP's Y&R; Ogilvy handled some of the account. However, the agency did add work from UPS, Sarah Lee, Pfizer and Bayer, among others.
