Consumers spent a record $913 million on Dec. 15, setting a new record, reports comScore, the first single day ever to cross the $900 million threshold. So far, consumers have spent $24.8 billion
online in the first 48 days on the holiday period, a 4% rise from the same period a year ago.
The Reston, Va.-based digital measurement company says that free shipping offers continue to be
the critical sales driver, and that each week so far, at least 45% of online transactions included free shipping, up from last year. In the week ending Dec. 6, 50% of transactions were shipped for
free. --Sarah Mahoney
