Rentrak Signs Lin For Local TV Ratings

TV digital set-top data aggregator Rentrak continues to gain momentum with its local TV ratings service, announcing yet another deal this morning with a major TV station group. Rentrak this morning said Lin TV Corp. has signed a deal to use Rentrak's StationView Essentials service to provide "enhanced measurement and engagement metrics for advertisers and agencies" for its Columbus, Ohio station WWHO. The deal follows similar ones announced in recent weeks with Sinclair Broadcast Group and Sunflower Broadcasting, and comes as Nielsen Co. has begun the process of transitioning its local TV ratings to a controversial set of time-shifted data streams that have the major spot TV buying agencies and advertisers up in arms.
