After abandoning ship, Nickelodeon has a deal with Norwegian Cruise Line to integrate the network's brand into its voyages.
Under the three-year deal, some cruises will have meet-and-greets
with characters, interactive game shows and other programming related to the kids' channel.
Nick had an arrangement with Royal Caribbean that led to two branded cruises in 2009, but the
replacement Norwegian deal runs year-round. Norwegian, as Royal Caribbean before it, was trying to attract more families.
Nick's recreational licensing initiatives also include a branded hotel
in Orlando and a theme park in the Mall of America in Minneapolis.
Later this year, the network was set to make a splash with a Nickelodeon Universe New Orleans full-fledged theme park, with
attractions named after characters such as SpongeBob and Dora the Explorer. But Nick backed out of the deal in November, due to issues with the developer.
