Verizon Wireless and the National Football League have teamed up to bring the sport to mobile phones. In a new, four-year agreement the NFL will make Verizon Wireless the league's official wireless service sponsor, providing fans with access to the sport and news via their mobile phones. The first content available on NFL Mobile will be the 2010 NFL Draft on April 22-24 and will continue through the regular season, including NFL RedZone programming (from the NFL Network) and live streaming of NFL Sunday Night games that are broadcast on NBC.

Virgin Mobile USA has signed on to sponsor tennis pro Melanie Oudin. The wireless carrier ahs committed to donate $1 million to organizations that help homeless youths if Oudin wins this year's U.S. Open in September. In addition, the company will provide fans with a chance to see Oudin compete at the U.S. through its FREE I.P. program, which offers free tickets to concerts and events in exchange for volunteering time at not-for-profit homeless youth organizations. --Aaron Baar
