Nielsen Enters Puerto Rico

Nielsen Co. Monday said it officially launched a new TV audience measurement system in Puerto Rico, putting it in direct competition with WPP's Kantar Media Research unit, which operates Mediafax, the incumbent audience measurement currency in the market.

Nielsen said its new service has a sample of 500 households, and that it has begun providing overngith ratings to clients in the market, which include Telemundo-owned WKAQ-TV, Univision affiliate WLII-TV, independent WAPA-TV, as well as Arteaga & Arteaga, Canal 13, Draft/FCB, EJE Sociedad Publicitaria, Starcom, and Kairos.
