Ford might end the year as the big No. 2 in the United States. Internet automotive consumer shopping and research site Edmunds.com says the Dearborn, Mich. automaker is on track to regain that
position, which it had lost to Toyota.
Ford's market share has topped 17% for the first time since 2006, and Ford vehicles are selling at a higher price with lower incentives. Ford's average
sticker price rose $952 from 2009 to 2010, while its average transaction price climbed $1,294 during the same period.
Ford's incentive spend is also down about $100 this year ($3,221 on average
per vehicle in the first quarter of 2010 versus $3,338 per vehicle last year.)
Also in the first quarter, the F-150 pickup once again became the top-selling light vehicle in the U.S. --Karl
