Campbell Upped To Pres, ABC Owned TV Group

Rebecca Campbell

The head of ABC's New York station will take over responsibility for all 10 of the network's owned-and-operated stations, with chief Walter Liss retiring. Rebecca Campbell becomes president of the ABC Owned Television Stations Group, which has outlets stretching from New York to San Francisco.

The announcement was made by Anne Sweeney, who leads the Disney-ABC Television Group and has the O&Os under her aegis. Liss, who was at the helm for a decade, is moving to a consulting role.

Campbell's role also includes oversight of ABC's rep firm for national TV sales, which also sells on behalf of regional sports networks and some place-based networks.

At WABC, her role also included management of syndicated hit "Live with Regis and Kelly" and ABC's out-of-home network in New York taxis.

Sweeney stated that Campbell is positioned to "define [the stations'] expanded role in the digital age." The group of 10 covers 24% of the country.

Campbell has headed WABC since 2007 in the country's largest market, following four years as president of ABC-owned Philadelphia station in the fourth-largest DMA.

"Both television stations are the highest-rated, from sign-on to sign-off, in their respective markets," ABC said.
