Ford Promotes Farley, Plans To Bring Volvo Into Fold

Ford

Ford Motor is making big management changes to promote its "One Ford" plan to simplify global operations.

Among the changes, Jim Farley -- who is now Ford group VP of global marketing and Canada, Mexico and South America operations -- will become Ford's global leader for marketing, sales and service, effective Aug. 1. Ford says that new role marks the first time the automaker has had a single global leader for marketing, sales and service.

Farley has led Ford's Global Marketing operations since he joined the company in November 2007. In September 2009, Ford's operations in Canada, Mexico and South America were added to his responsibilities and today the regions are well-positioned for continued growth.

Said Alan Mulally, Ford's president and CEO, in a statement: "As we accelerate our profitable growth plan around the world, it is critical that we build a world-class global marketing, sales and service operation. There is no one better to lead this effort than Jim Farley."

The Dearborn, Mich.-based automaker says three other management changes are pursuant to Ford's selling Volvo to Zhejiang Geely later this quarter: John Fleming, EVP, Chairman and CEO of Ford of Europe and head of Global Manufacturing and Labor affairs, will lead the company's Global Manufacturing & Labor Affairs operations.

Stephen Odell, who serves now as CEO of Volvo Cars, will be Ford group VP succeeding Fleming. Stuart Rowley, CFO of Volvo, becomes chief financial officer, Ford of Europe.

Ford says it is also reorganizing its operations in Canada, Mexico and South America. Eduardo Serrano, currently president and CEO of Ford of Mexico, will be executive director, Latin America, starting Aug. 1. David Mondragon will continue as president, Ford of Canada. Both Serrano and Mondragon will report to Mark Fields, Ford EVP and president of the Americas.
