IndoorDirect, which operates a digital out-of-home video network catering to quick-service and family restaurants, is getting highlights of the U.S. Open tennis championship, courtesy of the
Tennis Channel.
The "Court Report" daily highlights, which recap the previous day's games, began running Monday on video screens in dining areas at more than 1,000 IndoorDirect venues.
They are scheduled to air every day of the U.S. Open through Sept. 14, two days after the last match.
Robyn Miller, a senior vice president for the Tennis Channel, stated that the partnership with
IndoorDirect will help raise the profile of the channel's U.S. Open coverage. This kind of nontraditional distribution could also give a needed boost to the event itself, which faces an uphill battle
attracting American TV audiences in a year with few top-seeded U.S. players, according to some media watchers.

IndoorDirect is not the only casual dining digital video network rolling out new
content offerings.
TargetCast Networks, which also operates a network of digital displays in casual restaurants, is preparing a new mobile app to build customer loyalty and allow TCN to maintain
contact with them across multiple locations in the network. It offers entertainment content and special deals from participating restaurant chains.
Scheduled to launch in the fourth quarter, the
app will be available for mobile download at various chain locations, including Applebee's, Friday's, Chili's, Outback, Einstein/Noah's Bagels, Tully's Coffee, Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, Robeks, Juice It
Up! and Seattle's Best Coffee in Borders Bookstore.
Earlier this year, Akoo -- which operates a network of digital displays in mall food courts -- launched several major branded entertainment
and advertising campaigns for clients, including Best Buy, 20th Century Fox and various gaming console and quick-service restaurant brands.
