Target says its sales gained 3% to $15.2 billion in the third quarter, including a 1.6% gain in comparable store sales. And the Minneapolis-based retailer says that with the holiday marketing and
merchandising plans it has in place, it forecasts fourth-quarter comparable sales that will be the highest in three years. Net earnings jumped 23% to $535 million.
Separately, the company says
it is the now the first mass-discount retailer to make the shopkick mobile application available, and that the location-based retail app is available in 242 stores in the Chicago, Dallas, Los
Angeles, Miami, Minneapolis, New York City, and San Francisco/Silicon Valley markets. It's also taken the wraps off a new iPad app.
