Purchase Intent Across Auto, Travel And Retail For October

October showed increased online purchase intent for Hawaii vacation planning and advanced bookings for holiday travel.

Based on analysis of over 160 million unique consumers across the BlueKai Exchange, the BlueKai Pulse report provides a snapshot of popular shopping intent activity in travel, retail and auto verticals this past month. In preparation for holiday travel, October intent data show an increase in activity for advanced air travel arrangements. Small affordable cars that are sporty, fuel-efficient and compact top the auto gainers while the retail vertical reflects increased purchase in cold weather gear and equipment.

TRAVEL

The travel vertical this month shows a solid connection between the upcoming holiday season and advanced bookings for air travel departing in 61-90 days. The correlation between advanced booking time period and holiday season travel is further confirmed by a significant decrease of intent action for booking air travel departing in 91 or more days. In addition, Hawaii vacation package intent data top the travel gainers chart.

The October retail vertical shows an increase in shopping intent for cold weather gear and equipment such as gloves and space heaters which is indicative of the cooler temperature. In keeping with Halloween, purchase intent activity showed significant gains in adult costumes. In addition, intent activity continues to shift away from items synonymous with summertime such as outdoor cooking equipment, air conditioners and kayaks.

Auto

In the auto vertical, affordable small cars such as the MINI Cooper, Honda Fit and Honda Insight top the auto gainers chart. Fuel efficiency, a sporty look and compact size are traits shared by these affordable small cars.
