In a special effort within its ongoing national support of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys Toys for Tots program, Coca-Cola worked with marines at Union Station to encourage D.C.-area
commuters to donate unwrapped toys for underprivileged children before the official close of the this year's toy drive on Dec. 21.
Morning commuters were greeted by uniformed Marines,
alongside the USMC red Hummer and a Coca-Cola hybrid truck. The Coca-Cola Polar Bear passed out Coca-Cola beverages and encouraged people to donate unwrapped toys to the D.C. Toys for Tots
chapter.
Commuters who donated were entered in a raffle for a free Sony PlayStation 3 and a PlayStation Move motion controller.
Coca-Cola's national partnership with the USMC
Reserve Toys for Tots program is in its fourth year. The company's 2010 contributions also included a $120,000 donation to the national program, a $15,000 donation to the D.C. chapter,
and a donation of a PlayStation 3 and Move to each of the eight city chapters across the country, to be given to families in need.
