Revlon Sales, Income Rise On Increased Ad Spending

Revlon says its first-quarter sales climbed 9.1% to $333.2 million compared to $305.5 million in the same period last year. And net income advanced to $10.4 million, up from $2.2 million a year ago. The company, which says it increased ad spending in the period to strengthen brands, attributed the gains to higher sales of Revlon color cosmetics, as well as Almay color cosmetics, fragrances, and other beauty care products. Sales fell in Revlon ColorSilk hair color. In the U.S., sales gained 2.3%.
