Delta Backs MLB Civil Rights Game

  • May 6, 2011
Delta Air Lines will be title sponsor of the MLB Civil Rights Game this year and next. The deal gives Delta brand exposure at MLB events leading up to the newly titled Fifth Annual Delta Civil Rights Game, airing on TBS on May 15 between the Braves and Phillies.

The airline will get signage at receptions, the Baseball & Civil Rights Movement Roundtable Discussion, the MLB Beacon Awards Banquet presented by Belk, the Youth Summit/"Wanna Play?" event in Centennial Park and all three games during this year's Civil Rights Game weekend.

Major League Baseball will develop a new logo that incorporates the Delta logo with the Civil Rights Game mark. Delta will also be featured in advertising, have scoreboard messaging during all three games of the Civil Rights Game weekend, and will have a presence during the TBS telecast of the 2011 Delta Civil Rights Game through commercials and billboards.

The effort also includes a civil rights march called "Delta Youth Baseball March" before the game. The airline says thousands of its employees and youth baseball and softball players from the local community will march to Turner Field.

Delta, which says it sponsors more MLB teams than any other airline, is also the official airline of the Atlanta Braves, Cincinnati Reds, Detroit Tigers, Minnesota Twins, New York Yankees, New York Mets and St. Louis Cardinals.
