'The Voice' Dips, But Stays On Key

The-Voice

The song doesn't stay the same -- at least for the third show of NBC's big reality effort "The Voice."

The high-flying NBC singing competition show lost just about 1 rating point from a week ago -- about 20% -- to a still-high Nielsen 4.6 rating/12 share for 18-49 viewers. The show was easily way ahead of all other comers on Tuesday night.

Some of the steady ratings are the result of the show's reduction to an hour from its previous two-hour running time. It also aired in the steadily lesser-viewed 10 p.m. time slot.

Still, NBC won its third Tuesday in a row, with a 3.3/9. Earlier in the evening, "The Biggest Loser: Couples" came in with a 2.6 rating/7 share among 18-49 viewers.

CBS was next with a 2.8/8 in 18-49 -- but doubled NBC's overall audience at 14.48 million to 7.96 million. CBS' big "NCIS" dipped to a season-low 3.5 rating/11 share at 8 p.m. Its sister show, "NCIS: Los Angeles," slipped 3% to a 2.8 rating/8 share. "The Good Wife" at 10 p.m. -- against stiffer "Voice" competition -- dropped 17% to a 2.0 rating/5 share.

Fox was in third place. "Glee" held steady with a 3.6 rating/11 share, down a tick from a week ago. Because "The Voice" moved to 10 p.m., Fox's two comedies climbed earlier in the evening: "Raising Hope" was up 22% to 2.2/6 and the already-canceled "Traffic Light" was 27% higher to a 1.4/4.

ABC had some good news: the "Dancing with the Stars" results show climbed 7% to a 3.2 rating/8 share for its two-hour edition, while its 10 p.m. show "Body of Proof" rose to a 2.2/6 at 10 p.m., up a bit and a couple of tenths higher than the usual time-period leader, CBS' "The Good Wife." ABC was at Tuesday average 2.4/7 for 18-49 viewers.

The CW was the same versus a week ago -- "One Tree Hill" at a 0.6/2 among adults 18-49, and "Hellcats" at a 0.5/1.
