While it's hardly a surprise that women still do the bulk of shopping when it comes to baby paraphernalia, it's still a little stunning how absent Dad is from the process: A new report from NPD Group
says women spend about 77% of all dollars on such items as clothing, layettes, travel seats, furniture and nursery items. And despite the growing popularity of showers and gift registries, nearly half
of all dollars spent come from parents buying for their own children.
