Hasbro says its sales for the second quarter climbed 23% to $908.5 million, compared to $737.8 million for the same period a year ago, partially due to its Transformers brand, and the release of
"TRANSFORMERS: Dark of the Moon."
Earnings for the Pawtucket, R.I.-based toy maker rose to $58.1 million, from $43.6 million in the year-ago period. And in the boys product category, revenues
soared 96% to $460.4 million. Other divisions fared poorly, however: Sales in its girls division fell 11% to $119.1 million, sales in its games and puzzles sank 12% to $231.3 million, and preschool
product sales dropped 10% to $97.6 million.
